What is an Energy Performance Certificate?
As part of our Building Energy Assessment services, we offer Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). An EPC is a document generated by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor.
This certificate evaluates the energy efficiency and environmental impact of properties, using a rating scale from 'A' to 'G'. Rating 'A' represents the highest energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact, while rating 'G' indicates the lowest efficiency and greatest environmental impact.

Do I Need an Energy Performance Certificate?
You might be familiar with the 'A' to 'G' ratings on appliances, which indicate their energy efficiency. This same concept applies to your home through an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
In England and Wales, there is a legal requirement to adhere to a 2002 European Directive on energy efficiency. While the Home Information Packs, which included the EPC, were discontinued in May 2010, the need for an EPC remains. You still need one to market your property effectively.

What Does the Energy Performance Certificate Include?
The Energy Performance Certificate provides energy ratings for homes, detailing the costs associated with heating, hot water, and lighting. It also offers practical advice on how to reduce these expenses and lower carbon emissions. Additionally, the certificate rates homes on a scale from A to G.
Following the recommendations provided can help the average homeowner save around £300 annually on fuel bills. Suggestions may include improving loft insulation, upgrading heating controls like thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), and installing solar panels.
